Past Winners: APICTA 2017 (Bangladesh)

Each year the APICTA Awards identify the best solutions from the Asia Pacific region across a broad range of categories.

Bangladesh is well-known as the land of mesmerizing beauties and boundless surprises. The country is proud of organizing Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2017 hosted by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division, Department of Information & Communication Technology (DOICT), and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), serving the unparalleled hospitality to the 173 teams, 72 Judges, and 650 entry nominee participants came over from 15 APICTA Economies during December 07-10, 2017. The mega event had been remarked as a grand success led by Mr. Russell T Ahmed, Convener, APICTA Awards 2017; & Senior Vice President, BASIS. From Bangladesh side, the Economy Coordinator for APICTA Awards 2017, Mr. Uttam Kumar Paul, Director, BASIS, played an imperative role to coordinate among the Economies.

On the very first day, December 07, APICTA Awards 2017 exhibited the event- Welcome Reception hosted by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) in Radisson Blu. Presence of over 250 APICTA and Bangladesh Govt. high-level dignitaries, and Bangladeshi ICT business leaders made the Welcome Reception vibrant to exchange the views, ongoing progress, market information and investment opportunities of ICT Industry in the Asia Pacific region. Among the distinguished guests, the Honorable ICT State Minister, Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak were present as Chief Guest; also accompanied by Mr. Kazi M. Aminul Islam, Executive Chairman, BIDA; Honorable ICT Minister of Bhutan, Mr. D N Wangle; Mr. Dileepa De Silva, Chairman, APICTA; Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, President, BASIS, and others.

The 2nd day, December 08, the Daylong Judging Session started, where the Chief Judge of APICTA Awards 2017, and also Advisor to BASIS, Mr. Abdullah H Kafi played the leading role along with other Head Judges. After the judging session, the Colorful Bangladesh Night was arranged in Radisson Blu- Pool Side, by ICT Division, DOICT and BASIS demonstrating the colors, diverse and enriched culture of the country, where all the APICTA Economy Coordinators, Judges, and Entry Nominee Participants were invited and catered. In this auspicious occasion, the Honorable ICT State Minister, Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the Honorable State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. Nasrul Hamid, BASIS Executive Councils and others were present.

On December 09, the 3rd day, besides the Judging Session held in Radisson Blu, there was a daylong B2B Session organized in the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) tagged with the flagship event- Digital World 2017. In total, 31 Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan ICT firms participated in the B2B Session approaching towards finding common grounds to make businesses. Meanwhile, APICTA Youth Carnival dedicated to the APICTA Entry Nominee student participants, organized in BICC got the hype and entertained the crowd of Digital World presenting youthful performances.

More to that, APICTA Studio provided the opportunity to the participants for showcasing their projects and sharing their experiences in front of the cameras which are now upped in the BASIS official YouTube channel and can be also found in the official website of APICTA Awards 2017 Dhaka, Bangladesh.

APICTA Awards Giving Ceremony, the mega event, awarded 17 Winners and 49 Merits, and staged a remarkable program on December 10, 2017, packed with cultural performances in Hall of Fame, BICC. Following the award presentation ceremony, the Gala Dinner held in Celebrity Hall, BICC, inviting all the Entry Nominee Participants, APICTA dignitaries, distinguished Bangladesh Govt. representatives, and BASIS Executive Committee Members. In the Awards Giving Ceremony, the Honorable Finance Minister, Mr. Abul Maal A Muhith, Chief Guest; Honorable ICT State Minister, Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Mr. Dileepa De Silva, Chairman, APICTA; Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, President, BASIS, handed over the awards to the winners and merits.

APICTA Awards 2017 delivered real surprises, from hospitality to well-executed programs, especially, the Judging Software, made by Bangladesh- the first ever complete solution for APICTA Judging processes complied with the APICTA Administrative Manual had been appreciated and echoed.

To recall, Bangladesh has got the APICTA membership just 2 years back and for the first time in history hosted the APICTA AWARDS in Bangladesh. We are receiving much appreciation from the participating member economies for our well organized arrangement and successful event completion. It is said that, this year Bangladesh has created a new era on APICTA Awards arrangement, remarking it to be the best one. We believe it would not come true without the incredible support and whole-hearted efforts of ICT Division, DOICT, BIDA, APICTA dignitaries and participants, event and software- web development partners. We are cordially thanking you for your excellence, for keeping faith on us. We believe this collective effort will make enormous contribution towards the development of APICTA and ICT sector.
